Celebrity Deadheads: Wil Wheaton
A former Star Trek actor and his monkey...
Wil Wheaton took my advice and downloaded a Dead show from Hollyweird in 1971.
Here's what he had to say on his blog:
Wow. What a great show this is, and how surprising that it was recorded at the Palladium, which is probably the worst venue in the entire city. The energy, the quality of the recording, and the cool, bluesy strains of their songs is just perfect writing music for today: it's 79 degrees, my patio is covered with finches squabbling over the bird feeders, my dogs are sleeping at my feet, and a gentle breeze is carrying the smell of recently-transplanted lavender into the window... MoreA few months ago, Wil told me that he was a fan of the American Beauty era songs, so I suggested one of my favorite shows. The crowd goes nuts on Casey Jones and Pig Pen brings down the house in Hard to Handle.
By the way, I took the above photo at the World Poker Tour Invitational last February at the Commerce Casino in LA.
