Phil & Friends 1/26/08
Take a look and a listen to the set-list's from the recent Phil & Friends Mardi Gras show held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. 16,000+ and counting downloads already from archive.org
Set 1: One More Saturday Night, Brown Eyed Women, Pride Of Cucamonga, Cold Black Devil, Golden Road, Midnite Hour, Viola Lee Blues > Caution (Do Not Stop On The Tracks) > Viola Lee Blues
Set 2: Shakedown Street *, IKO IKO (featuring a Mardi Gras parade and a first time performance by the current P&F line-up) *^ > Truckin' *, Jack Straw, Saint Stephen > Eleven jam > Unbroken Chain, Fire on The Mountain, Know You Rider, Morning Dew > Uncle John's Band, Donor Rap (Phil with /wife of Jeff Setzekorn (who died, but saved 4 lives), E: Box of Rain
Comment: * with Ivan Neville. ^ with parade.
It's been years since I've heard a great rendition of Iko-Iko. Box of Rain was moving after the Donor Rap. Apparently the audience was filled with family and friends of Jeff Setzekorn who was a long-time contributor to archive.org
There is YOU TUBE Video of the mardi-gras parade in front of the stage which I have attempted to upload below (my rookie attempt :) . There was also a costume party judged by Phil after the first set. I'm having a I wish I was there moment right now.
And the Band:
The Band:
Phil Lesh - Bass, Vocals
John Molo - Drums
Jackie Green - Guitar, Hamonica, Keyboards, Vocals
Larry Campbell - Guitar, Pedal Steel
Steve Molitz - Keyboards
Many comments on various message boards indicate that the current line-up with Jackie Greene is as good if not better then any other incarnation with Warren Haynes
or Jimmy Herring. I must admit I was blown away at the Glens Falls Civic Center Show back in October.
