Jordin Sparks Wins American Idol

17-year old Jordin Sparks of Glendale, AZ won the sixth edition of American Idol Wednesday night, edging out beat-boxer Blake Lewis, 25. For her win, Sparks receives a management contract with 19 Entertainment as well as a recording contract with Sony BMG. She also snagged a red Ford Mustang, I suppose as a token of gratitude for shooting all those retarded music video-style ads for the auto giant (and Idol uber-sponsor) along with her fellow contestants.

Idol's season finale also marked the first time that the program has been granted use of the Beatles' catalog. The two-hour extravaganza featured a series of Beatles hits performed by four of the show's previous winners including Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Hicks, Carrie Underwood, and Ruben Studdard.

You can view the Beatles medley below, which includes five covers off of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"-- the title song (Clarkson), " "A Day in the Life" (Hicks), "She's Leaving Home" (Underwood), and "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds > A Little Help from My Friends" (Studdard, joined by this season's Top 10).
