What Would You Like On Your Costume-stone?

It's well established at this point that Halloween Phish shows are special. Different. Spifferent, they are. The reason is simple: On Halloween, Phish comes in "costume." Not dressed up, not that, Fishman dress aside. Their costume is musical. They become an act, and play one of those act's signature albums in its entirety.

They've been The Beatles. They've been The Who. In my favorite incarnation, they were The Talking Heads.

It's coming again. Halloween. And Phish is back. And the question becomes . . . which costume would make your dreams come true, would make you grin, would make you dance the meatstick until Thanksgiving?

This isn't a casual question for a Phish fan, my friends. These bands seep into Phish. They influence our favorite band. This summer we got at least two Beatles covers and a positively IMMENSE Psycho Killer. Whatever they do at the end of Octover, it is safe to say that it will have lasting reverberations throughout the Phishiverse.

I'm going to go with Stevie Wonder's Innervisions. What's your pick?

Pink Floyd - The Wall or at least Comfortably Numb or the Who's Pinball wizard from Tommy. Pearl Jams's TEN album!!!

i just hope whatever album they play it has guest musicians/a horn section and Phish pulls off the vocals. some of these albums we are discussing are hard to pull off with just guitar/bass/keys/kit and singing a lot of the "rumored" albums is a tall order for anyone.

I've said it twice, I'll say it again: Steely Dan's Countdown to Ecstasy.

It's gotta be an all around 'good-listening' album...one that appeals to the masses.

Phish is definitely on a PR run as of late, so...

...that being said, I'm leaning towards something from the Rolling Stones.

Won't be JOY.

RadioHead or Pavement would be stellar...but I'm thinking it's just too mellow.

Whatever it may be...should be a Real Good Time.

My final selection is: WORKINGMAN'S DEAD.

Thriller. It has to be. With band lore and MJ's recent death, what else could they do?

I didn't know (I don't get-out much) Phish did such a cool groove on Halloween.
TOO COOL!

Hey, check this George Harrison parody song.

I am thinking Stones. I would love to see them do Blues For Allah, but I think there is still are real reservation for them to do anything by the Dead. For the Stones, the smart money is on Exile on Main Street. They are the only seminal 60's band that they haven't covered (The Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground).

With Exile you would definitely get the horn section. Let it Loose is probably my favorite ballad of all time, though I do like Memory Motel a lot too.

no votes for Hendrix? i'm thinking Elecric Ladyland or Axis. Gov't Mule already put dibs on the Stones, not that Phish wouldn't kill it anyways.
hmmm...be fun if the came dressed as themselves and played Gamehenge.

Thriller seems to be the most obvious choice though....
