Coachella 2009 Lineup Announced

If, you, like us, have just been screwed over by the powers that be for Phish tickets (see Pauly's rant above), well, there's always shelling out $269.00 for Coachella to look forward to! That's the price on a three-day pass for this year's hipster-fest in the Southern California desert (plus fees, plus a $3 donation to charity, etc.) which is scheduled to take place April 17-19 at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, CA.

Take a look at the (pretty fucking odd) lineup, which was just released. Seriously, Paul McCartney headlining? Yeah, my 61-year old mother will be stoked about that one, but will scores of coke-snorting 20-year olds share her excitement? To me, the only day that looks like it might be worth the trip is Saturday's Amy Winehouse/Thievery Corporation/Fleet Foxes/Band of Horses/TV on the Radio grouping.

Also performing? Blasts from the past Morrissey, Leonard Cohen, X, and the Cure along with fresh-from-their-plane crash DJ duo Travis Barker and DJ A.M. spinning under the moniker TRAV$DJ-AM.

When he kicks in to the Na Na Na Na part of Hey Jude, all those too-cool-for-school hipsters will be singing along too.

Kind of weak overall, the dance tent looks really sad. Why not 2 great days instead of 3 so-so ones?
