I just got a text message from my boy Kid Dynamite. He went to the Jammy's tonight in NYC. Phish was supposed to get a Lifetime Achievement Award. There were rumors that the boys would play, but I thought it was just another one of those Phishy Reunion rumors.
He just sent me a text at 11:13pm that said, "Full band. Mania."
That's all I got, so far. Stay tuned for more info on the Phish Reunion at the Jammys.
11:25pm... One poster on PT (borat_) mentioned something about the all stars (allstars: kyle russo brownie barber jake) playing Wilson.
11:29pm... borat_ posted the allstars played Antelope. No sightings of anyone from Phish yet.
11:49pm... Kid Dynamite sent me a text: "All star cover team ripped through wilson antelope 2001 and maze."
11:59pm... Kid Dynamite sent me a text: "No band. Unreal. They were here and did not play."
12:01am... OK, so from what I gather... everyone in the crowd went nuts when they found out every member of Phish was at the Jammys. They were all on stage together to accept the award, but did not play. At that point, I got a lot of mixed messages about Phish actually playing. Trey sat in with the Fab Faux for While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Turns out it was just The Head Count All Star cover band that played several Phish tunes... without members from Phish.
No reunion. Looks like thoughts of quitting my job were premature.
This completes a test of the wookie alert system. Had this been an actual Phish reunion, you would have been instructed to drop everything you are doing, bust out the patchy pants and patchy dresses, and start loading up the car for Phish tour. We return you to regularly scheduled programming.
Just a reminder that the Coventry gang will be in Atlanta on Thursday providing live coverage of Radiohead's latest stop on their US tour. If you see the joker, stop him and say hello! Then buy him a beer for all his hard work.
