G-Money Picks: 70s Ohio Funk (Slave)

G-Money (@777GMoney) tipped me off to Finding the Funk documentary (look for it on Palladia or VH1-Classics). G-Money grew up in Ohio, which was a hub for funk in the early 70s, especially the city of Dayton, which spawned funk monsters like The Ohio Players and Slave. Oh, and I almost forgot Bootsy Collins who was born in Cincy, but was a prominent player in the southern Ohio funk scene.

Here's one of my favorite tracks from the era from Slave. The bass solo (around 4:20) itself is something that can make a lady quiver in her boots, if you know what I mean...
